I have installed crystal 8.5 and the Crystal Enterprise that comes with it.
I have a report in a web directory
c:\inetpub\When navigating to the url
I get the following error:
File c:\inetpub\ Not Found [On page server: myserver.pageserver]

I give up, did I forget to turn on something here, the report runs fine from the Crystal Environment but won't deal up in the browser--any advice??

Using Window2000 server

thanks

digilantis: When you view a report through a web browser as you are doing, the report is actually opened and executed by a service called the page server. By default this service is run under the local system account, so check to make sure the file permissions on the RPT file allow access. Alternately, try running the page server service under a named user account.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
I did notice that it is running under the local system account as you said. I changed it to allow the machine to run it and it keeps reverting back to localsystem...idunno?
the permissions are wide open too and still will not run.

Did you try to change the ID under which it runs through the Crystal Configuration Manager? Also - you must stop the service first...

Also - did you install both CR and CE on the same machine? Is the pageserver running on the same machine as the web server?

I think I am having a similiar problem. I have not been able to get the file to run if it is stored in the Inetpub directory, unless I am using the new eBusiness and publish the report with Crystal Enterprises. To get the report to run without using the Crystal Enterprises, I had to move the report to c:\program files\seagate software\web content\. However, I want my web reports to be in the Inetpub directory. Is there a way to make this work, without using the Crystal Enterprise to publish the report and eBusiness screens to view it.

What about the permissions on the virtual directories? Compare the rights between the two virtual directories and see if there is any difference...

I have checked every possible permission setting that I can think of. I even created a user call CrystalReports, gave it administrator privs to login to the page server and just about everything else..still will not serve up the page?*(@$!)@

While my problem wasn't exactly permissions, it sent me looking in the right direction. We had Crystal Reports 8 installed previously and had upgrade to Crystal Reports 8.5 and Crystal Enterprise. When we did the upgrade, it created a folder called Crystal on the C drive under the program files/seagate software and I think the folder was shared. Anyway, our reports had been in a folder on the E drive under Inetpub/Crystal and the web share for the folder wasn't available anymore. When we re-shared the folder, it named the share crystal2, which made the problem then obvious as to what had happened. Now by calling the reports with the new web share directory name of crystal2, everything works again. Hopefully that helps.
