here is one that is stumping the heck out of me. I have a t1 running into my network through an adtran 3205 router csu/dsu, then it runs into a temporary server which is doing basic routing and DHCP. I have two of the dozen or so machines here that can access any web site at any time. The others and any new ones i add or roaming people with laptops can access maybe 50% of the internet. Sites like ebay, orbitz or mouser are pingable and have low response times as well as bing easily traceroute-able. but no browser firefox or IE will actually display it. The clients that cna ccess the pages have no different security or windows firewall settings than the ones who cannot. Help its driving me up a wall. We have put our routes, NAT DHCP and DNS under a microsocope and come up with nothing. I tried pulling clients off the DHCP pool and removing the internal DNS and using just the 3 DNS's from the ISP to no avail. even going to the site by IP address times out..

thanks!

This does not sound like an ethernet problem but one with the browser. You might try the browser forum603

Have you tried running Ethereal to see if the packets are getting to the server that is acting as a router? Or to see if they are leaving to go to the Internet, and if the responses are coming back?

Are you sure that your NAT rules are being implemented?

What platform is the routing server? Windows XP? Server 2003? Linux?

I got a little utility called Dr. TCP and ran it on the clients that were working as they should, it showed my MTU as 1300 and on the flaky clients it was set to no value. changed to 1300 and rebooted. all works as it should! thanks all.
