(1) From DomainP, I can browse all nodes/shares/files in DomainD, but from DomainD I can only browse down to the node name level of DomainP
(2) DomainP, DomainD. Adding a user or global group from DomainP into a local group on DomainD works, but not the other way around. After re-opening the group, it lists the members as "DOMAIN\Account Unknown"

NOTES:
- Connection between two domains via VPN
- problems began when BDC added to DomainD
- have removed and re-created trust relationship SEVERAL TIMES
- have cleaned all WINS servers
- only static entries = domain name w/ PDC IP addr
- added push/pull partners between domain PDCs only
- then tried removing above partnership
- stopped and started WINS service
- stopped WINS on DomainD, deleted WINSmdb, re-started
- synchronized all server LMHOSTS files to declare domain name [1C], PDC for each domain and master browser & WINS server [1B] for each domain
- nbstat -R on each server after LMHOSTS file updated

WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING HERE?

can you do a net view \\SERVERNAME from a server in the other domain ? Peter Van Eeckhoutte
peter.ve@pandora.be

Running 'net view \\servername' returns a listing of shares including 3 printers, NETLOGON and 8 other share names.
How does this information help? If you always do

Can you do a NBTSTAT -R and retry the net use x: \\...

Also, try to re-apply your service pack (SP6a if possible)

I've done the nbtstat many times but I haven't tried reapplying the SP6a. That's a good idea. If you always do
what you always did

To manage the PDC server in the remote DomainD I have established a NetMeeting connection using an IP network address. Do you think this factors into the problem in any way?

Applying the Service Pack fixed the problem. Thanks Peter If you always do, what you always did
