I use IE and Mozzila and on 2 PCs at home on a broadband WiFi n/w. 1 PC running XP Pro will work fine most of the time but gets the message after a long wait time "Connection reset" - trying again (response) does not work - only at the point where I am at a payment (secure) point. The other PC using the same WiFi runs Vista and will allow access and payment pages to be loaded/returned perfectly. I have AVG Anti Virus s/w running and operating system Firewalls switched on - even when I turn the XP firewall off the problem remains.

Take a look at this faq by bcastner. Its very handy for connection problems. I realize your connection works most of the time but this faq still might help you.
