Hello All
my sister inlaw has a vio laptop
she has a dialup isp,she can sign on and get on line but the browser doesn't go to any web pages.
what i notice though is, in the lower left where it shows the after about a second a .net appears after the .com.it seems to search for domaine names.i disabled search from address bar this was no help.. could this be preventing me from veiwing web pages?

i get no server errors with ie, the browser just times out.i ran adaware i scanned with a/v i deleted all cookies and temp stuff, i installed opera thinking ie problems but opera comes back with could not connect to remote server..i can ping, and everthing says i'm connected...

i'm thinking it's a reg problem..from what i understand this problem appeared after updateing norton a/v

why would it search domaine names?

any help would be GREATLY appreciated

thanks for the reply bcastner

i do think that what i see in the bottom left corner is a clue but i just can't seem to enter the correct wording in search engines to come back with good results..
