Browser pops up automatically if another window is active

I am facing a strange problem.My web application keeps polling the web server every 45 seconds and refreshes depending on the information received.Without minimising the browser if I open another window on top of it after every 15 minutes the browser window comes to the friend automatically.Is there a way I can prevent the window from coming to the foreground?
