I use all three browsers. IE6 gets me in a lot of trouble, but I also like to use Netscape 8.0 and Foxfire. I have Foxfire set the the default browser. So why is it that every time I try to surf or open a site Netscape will launch many times? Is there something in the settings that cause it to continue to try to open site even if I,m using IE6? I have Netscape set to ask if it is the default browser.

My OS is Windows 2000 Pro; a ADM Anthlon K7 with 523 RAM.

It sounds like you may have ad ware. Have you completed an ad ware scan?
If you do not have AdAware SE google for it and install and run a scan. Then you might need an ad blocking plug in for your Netscape or look in the options and turn on Pop up blocking.
Foxfire has an ad block plug in you can get from their site.
I use the Google tool bar for IE6. It has a pop up blocker and other cool features you can use. You can download it from Google.

The google bar that you refer to is also available for Firefox (although it is still in public beta).

You can prevent popups in Firefox using the following built-in setting:
Tools > Options > Web Features > Block Popup Windows (on)

That's not helping you solve the problem... just explaining some other stuff [smile]

I also use "Firefox" as my default browser and once in a while I still get random pop-ups despite my blocker being enabled.

I think that your netscape might be popping up because it's the base engine of the mozilla browsers. Perhaps it thinks you're talking to it instead of "Firefox".
