browser opens continous windows

New install of XP on GW laptop, McAvee Enterprise 8.0i installed and updated. Open Office installed.

Problem is, IE will open browser pages to default page, and will on some occassions send the page I'm viewing back to the homepage. This is a problem with IE and with Firefox.

All windows updates have been applied.
