here it is:
had a domain with a single domain controller.
added a second domain controller and have a problem with the master browser service. it reports this error:
source: BROWSER
event ID: 8022
description: the domain was unable to retrive a list of domains from the browser master \\myserver on the network\device\NetBT_Tcpip_{bunch of random numbers}
the data is the error code.
it allso reports this error:
source: BROWSER
event ID: 8032
the browser service has failed to retrieve a backup list to many times on the transport\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{bunch of random numbers}
the backup browser is stopping.
something else here:
i can browse through network places and see all the PCs and the shares they contain. so i am assuming that the domain it belongs to is running as it should be.
BUT:
i had at one time, a child domain consisting of one win2003 server running exchange. i had all of the appropriate trusts in place and a user could log on to either domain.
the DC then died and i wasnt able to properly remove the child domain.
MY BEST GUESS:
i think that the errors the new DC is recording belong to the child domain and the browser service not being able to contact that child domain and get a list of PCs located there.
sound right to you guys/gals??????
so how would i go about removing the child domain?
thanks for your help
