Is there some clever way to create a link icon on a browser's link toolbar that, when clicked, opens that URL but also sends as a parameter the URL currently in the browser address window?

If not, maybe a little Java applet can do it?

You can do it, but the link must be written in javascript. First Add the page where you want the info sent to the link bar. Once you have done this you can edit the link by right clicking and selecting options

I edited:

"
to:

javascript:window.location.href='

Now when you click on the button on the links bar it send the current URL in the "From" querystring parameter
