Browser (In)Compatibility 1

I created a webpage in FrontPage 2002; published it; it looked great in Internet Explorer; it was horrible in Netscape Navigator. I discovered that I should have set Page Options for browser compatability before I started creating my page. But............I didn't. Is there any way I can make those changes to my existing web page? I don't host my page. It's published with a web hosting company (if that should matter). I'm trying to get this fixed so I can submit the page to Yahoo! Thank you so much for your help.

You can set the compatability, but it doesn't do what you think it does. It simply DISABLES the features that don't work in Netscape. Which means you'll need to go in and fix the pages on an individual basis and look between IE and NN to make adjustments.

However, there are some things you can that will help. The first is to use style sheets for formatting fonts, hyperlinks, and so forth. The benefit of that is that if you decide you want to change the font from black to blue, you only have to fix the style sheet, not every page.

If you use bookmarks, don't put them on a defined style like a Heading 1. If your Heading is set to 18 pts, the bookmark causes Netscape to show it as 10 points.

If you are using tables--and Netscape has trouble with them--make sure they are plain, garden variety tables. No fancy formatting, no fancy colors. To keep the tables from adjusting in Netscape, use pixelshims (see the FAQs on this board for more information).
