I've read through the posts and tried just about everything with no luck.

My problem is that the browser will lock up about every third link I click. It literally "freezes" and the icon in the upper right stops spinning. After about 5 seconds... it kicks in and the page downloads successfully.

Has anybody experienced this??

Can anybody fix it??

Thanks!!

What type of internet connection are you using (dialup, DSL, cable)?

What version of IE are you running? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

Had trouble posting here last week - sorry about the late response.

ALSO - it freezes for more like 30 seconds!!! (not 5)

I recently upgraded to ie6 and that's when everything started. Sometimes Outlook also sticks (freezes) and then resumes after 30 seconds or so. And often links in my e-mails don't work when I click on them. Nothing happens.

ideas?

I ask again...what type of internet connection are you using?

Sorry - Cable connection. It's quite frustrating.

Often (especially when I'm just launching ie - it will gives the error "cannot open search page". Most of the time it just locks up (freezes) and then comes back to life in about 30 seconds.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Ok, I assume you are using a NIC to ethernet modem. Two things I'd suggest:

Make sure nothing is checked under Tools-->Internet Options, Connection tab, LAN settings (specifically Proxy server)

Try assigning an IP address and subnet to the NIC. Assign an address like 192.168.1.10, and 255.255.255.0, into IP address and subnet mask fields respectively.

Pauljaz - Many thanks - I installed the update and things seem to be working much better - THANKYOU!!!

MSeng - Thanks for your help - If problems persist I will try entering the addresses.

hi

I am having a problem with my internet explorer. When I dial up the computere freezes. I thought that it was something to do with my software and perhaps a virus so I reformated my drive and reinstalled Win2000. I then tried to connect to the internet and with a clean machine my computer still froze.

So i was wondering if anyone else had problems like this and what I might be able to do to fix it.

thanks
