Hi,

I have an NT4 Server (service pack 6)(This is a stand alone server and not part of a domain.) running MS SLQ server. In the last couple of days I have had the following message appear in the event viewer:

Sys: E 'Thu Feb 06 07:26:55 2003': BROWSER - " The browser was unable to promote itself to master browser. The computer that currently believes it is the master browser is PCxxxx.

I have had a search arround the Microsoft Support site and found nothing.

If anyone can shed any light into this, would be great.

Thanks

Simon.

Is that computer win98 machine? If so then you install a network on a win98 machine it enables computer master browser by default. You have to disable that
you do that by going to the client for ms networks and disable it. If not then email back and i'll look into some other areas.

All our workstations are NT/2000.
