Dear all...

Does anyone out there have any good ways of preventing (or at least minimising) the number of browser crashes one may experience on a server farm.

I am getting a bit miffed...

I have the servers rebooting daily, have only TCP/IP configured on the servers, upgraded all the clients to the latest version, Dissalowed the remaining 2 of 3 servers from becoming (or attempting to become) the master browser... specified the master browser in the clients .ini files (which get copied daily to the workstation to enable full control of the client environment)

BUT STILL IT FALLS OVER WHENEVER IT CHOOSES !!! argh !

It doesnt often effect the clients in fairness, but when it falls over in the middle of the night here in merry UK, and AUS and US cannot log in, it does prove terminal to the social (what little I have) life.

Any other ideas... comon Citrix engineer.... I know your out there hehe

Thanks in advance for any help

PS, one thing I have noticed is NBTSTAT is reporting a conflict now and again... no particular user name, but every now and then it will put the name in conflict...

I guess im gonna have to build a bespoke Master Browser... just resent having to pay £1600 for a piece of software that is FIXING a common problem and not performing any other issue, not to mention the expence of an additional workstaion/server and NT licence....

The wonderful ICA browser ;-) I must admit, I'm completely converted to the new IMA Datastore way of things.

It seems safe to assume that all of your Citrix servers are on one site, since you only speak of one MB.

When you say it falls over, do you mean that absolutely no-one can connect to an ICA session at that point in time? Can anyone connect via an RDP client? (This might save you having to actually get out of bed to fix the problem!).

I take it you're at the latest service packs - have you also applied the Microsoft post SP6 hotfix that fixes Citrix browser issues? (Q269214)

Take a look at Jim Kenzig's article
and Rick Dehlinger's - you may recognise the writing style in one or two of these :)

One other little tip - if you're using a Cisco switch, check to see whether "portfast" is turned on or not. A recent site I was at resolved a similar issue simply by changing the setting to on.

Hope this helps
