Browser Compatible Movie Player

Hi All;

Could some please recommend the best route on playing a video clip on my site. Should I be looking at windows media player, quicktime, flash, realone etc... I am looking for ease of implementation coupled with browser compatability (mainly concerned with IE and FireFox).

I would be greatly appreciate any tips in this regard!

Does it have to be embedded into the page (i.e. so it's actually playing on the screen)? If not, I'd go with just a link to an avi file as then the user can use whichever program their computer uses to play media files.

Well I guess you could use the EMBED tag although I'm not sure what DOCTYPES support it. Alternatively, you could do something like the BBC do on their website and give your users an option. Check out one of the yellow "video" links from the following address to see what I mean:
