Browse And Retention Policy 1

Network Server 6.1.1 running on WINNT 4.0
Compaq SSL2020 19 slots, 2 AIT-2 Drives
I have 5 magazines that hold the 19 tapes. I do a full backup every night and I am only concerned about being able to browse and recover for 4 weeks. Should my browse and retention policies both be set to 4 weeks (or 1 month)?

We backup our File Server full every week and incremental every day. Retention and browse policy set to 6 Month.
We have no problems with the client file index.

The CLient File Index is about 5GB big.
The only problem ist the recover with the NW Client.
It tooks some time to browse the files, but we can browse 6 month back in the time.

So you have to determine how long to browse back in the time with the NW Client.
