I believe Brother only makes this info available to authorized service centers, so you're probably on your own. You can try calling a service center and see if they'll give you the info from the service manual for that printer but I'm sure they'd prefer you bring in your printer and pay them to do it.
I replaced the fuser in an HL-1870N without any problems but had a heck of a time figuring out how to clear the "replace fuser" message on the display. I finally got hold of a service center that was willing to help me for free. I assure you, if I ever have to take this printer in for service, that service center is the one that will get my business. (btw, I called Brother and asked them how to do it, but they said I had to contact a service center for that info).
Philote, could you please tell me how you cleared the "replace fuser" message on the Brother 1870N. I am about to go replace a fuser and a PF kit on this model and I don't have the service manual, so any tips and tricks will be a great time saver. Thanks.
Here's the notes I made when I changed our fuser:
[tt]
Replace Fuser (part # LJ-7005-001)
-Unplug printer, remove trays
-Remove duplexer trays located in back.
-Remove four screws in back (two on each side) to remove the two panels.
-Unplug both plugs, one on each side of the fuser, plug on right also needs to be removed from its holder
-Remove two screws from the fuser, one on each side
-Remove old fuser, replace with new, and reassemble printer
-Clear fuser message by pressing "GO" and "+" at same time.
Then use the "+" or "-" buttons to get to the fuser and hit the "set" key to reset.
