Hi
Can Avaya Modular Messaging version 455 send out broadcast voicemail messages? I have not found any documentation on stating either yes or no.

I have looked under the cos and don’t see any option. I believe in previous version it was just a check box on the account setup.

If Avaya Modular Messaging version 455 can send broadcast messages how I can set that up. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sincerely

Keith

The term 'broadcast' has several meanings dependent on the TUI and voicemail system you have used prior to MM. In Modular Messaging the broadcast feature is system-wide. The instructions below are written from the MSS storage backend but the Concepts and Planning guide references all backend storage choices.
Check the following elements:
1. Messaging Administration, Messaging Attributes for the Broadcast Mailbox and Enhanced-List mailbox that both are present.
2. Messaging Administration, Enhanced-Lists verify that you have created a list number. In MM this list will be empty but the system will know that any message sent to this list number goes to all mailboxes that exist on this MM.
3. Messaging Administration, Sending Restrictions restrict who can send a broadcast to that entire system by the Community number assigned. For example, you don't want the sender to be in the same community as the normal mailbox users.

When you broadcast a message to your users you would 'send a message' as normal from within your mailbox using the Broadcast List number as referenced in #2 above. This user has to be allowed by the community number on their mailbox as referenced in #3 above.

For more information check these documents (page numbers are actual numbers of the page):
1. Concepts & Planning guide - page 52, 68, 69, 97, 111, 112, 132, 135-137, 169, 216, 220, 222, 352, 451, 461, 464.

2. Telephone User guide -page 13 & 35
3. Installation and Upgrade guide

Also note that a 'true broadcast' in MM does not light the MWI lamp but will be the first message heard in the mailbox.

Hope this helps you get started.
