I have 3 Citrix servers running MetaFrame v1.8

Recently I have put up a test Firewall and noticed in its logs that every hour one of my Citrix servers send out a broadcast on port 1604. It is exactly one hour to the second that it does this.

My Question:

1. Why does only one of the servers do this?

2. Is this normal for a Citrix Server to broadcast out on port 1604 every hour?

TIA,
Jamie

On port 1604 (UDP), clients demand a list from the master browser which published apps they can use according the users rights. I think that your master browser is the one who does this. If you do not use published applications but only custom ICA connections, or ICA files, then you may shut the port on your firewall. Otherwise leave it open. Unless you do not have users who need to connect from the internet.
