Hi all,

A customer of ours has a connection from thre group switch to the LIM via a BIM. The service provider discontinued the service for these modules. Is there an (not too expensive) alternative for a BIM? Thanks in advance.

Ericsson HL950's or RAD Modems. They convert E1 Pipes (Grouspwitch links) into IP packets.

I have HL950's which I am going to be implementing soon.

HI

We have replaced the BIM by Optimux from RAD.
The system is 45 LIMs and 90% are remote.
The advantge ot Optimux compare to HL950 is that you have up to 16 PCM line in the same box, while HL950 offers you only 1.

HL950 is also more expensive, but from a supplier perspective it is nicer to offer "Everything Ericsson". I guess it's down to personal preference.

I'd be keen to find out if RAD's are easier to set up?? I may suggest we add them to our product portfolio.

We have RAD IP/Muxes set-up on 6 of our sites providing IP trunking from GS to remote LIM's. Was a bit tricky setting them up at first and had to play around with some settings i.e. Jitter Buffer, but they have been in an working now for over a year with no major problems so far (hastily touches a large piece of wood !)

I don`t think RAD have dynamic bandwith and protecton of timeslot 16 like HL950. QOS is easy to use with HL950.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Just one question left. Can anyone tell me what type of RAD IP/IP MUX is the right one? I have some information about a RAD 4E1. Is this the right one? Thanks again!!!
