Along the lines of SantaMufasa's Utahnics ....

Bristle is a major city in the UK with its very own language. Local author Dirk Robson has written a number of books on the subject, his most well known being Krek Waiter's Peak Bristle. One of his later books, Twenty Sentries of Bristle is a "potted" history of the city. The following extract is from an event in 1642 and is a Colonel encouraging his troops:

Guess tuck interim, chaps! Few win isle seat everyone guess spade extra, annual deaf knit lea be deck rated. Annie few really ham rum, yule lav bren jam for tea!

I asume you mean Bristol?

Code:
[COLOR=white]Get stuck into them chaps! If you win I will see that everyone gets paid extra, and you will definitely be decorated. And if you really hammer them, you will have bread and jam for tea![/color]

[cheers] & all the best.

CorBlimeyLimey, well done - and yes Bristle is Bristol.

This one took me quite a while to translate, and I'm supposed to be a Bristolian!

Two members of a mob ransacking the Mansion House:

Person 1 Lore mare slicker tay slot bet run bit rail, snow.

Person 2 Strew! Lessee fizz poor twines justice good.

Second line was easy, but first took a few minutes.

Code:
[COLOR=white]Lord Mayors liquor tastes a lot better than Bitter Ales, no?

It's true! Let's see if his Port Wine is just as good.[/color]

[cheers] & all the best.

CorBlimeyLimey, I think you were probably quicker than me. As you say the second line was easy, but the first took me about 10 minutes.

KenCunnigham and PaulTEG, I would say it was softer than Brizzle probably closer to Brissle. Since the "T" is to all intents and purposes silent in Bristle, I think Bristle is acceptable. Additionally, where posible, the author has tried to translate using actual English words - although for the names of some districts in the city (such as Snanz or Shrampton) it has not been possible.

Silent "T" ???

Why, I could take that "parsenully."

our American friends may like to know that Bristol is 'cockney' rhyming slang for a 'breast' as in Bristol City.

(someone else can explain what a cockney is)

IN that it rhymes with pity, amongst other things :)
