Hi,

Our website is currently hosted by Yahoo, and we would like to bring it in-house. What steps do I need to be aware of? My network currently consists of 1 DC, 1 Exchange and 1 Blackberry server, with Cisco Pix firewall.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Steven

1) What kind of site is it? (asp.net 1.1, 2.0, php, etc)
2) Does it use a database backend?
3) Do any special components need to be installed on the server (like a report viewer)?

All I can think of right now...

What about network topology? Where should I place the webserver - in a dmz?

Yeah, you can place it in the DMZ if nothing else critical will be on that server. If you have a database that isn't in the DMZ then you'll need to test to make sure that you can get in. If there are other things on the server and you don't want to set it up in the DMZ then you can simply port forward port 80 through the firewall.

Also, you will need to resolve any DNS issues that will arise from changing the physical ip address.

Regards,

J

We created a static route from the router to the web server. Our DNS is hosted so its just a matter of name resolution to external ip to internal ip.
