Has anyone seen this or know what may be causing error?

8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=object name, EC=error message/code)

It’s generated when backing up Exchange 2003 server (w/latest patches)\Brick level Public Folder. (Just one sub-directory.) All other directories in Brick level Public Folders complete successfully. ARCserve Version 9.0 (Build 2050)

Any information is much appreciated.

Set the agent in debug and then ck the log.
How to put the Exchange Agent into debug? faq478-4051

Hey Mrpc,

what is the EC= error code,please list them as they give out info as to what is the issue.

--Ran

EC=Exchange server name:Backup agent error -- (366)"Failed to open a folder."

It definitely looks like a security issue; however, this folder is 2 sub-directories down. Same security settings for all (these) directories off the root.

I am going to try to create another directory at the same level with same security. I'll see what happens.

Found it. (If anyone is interested)

Quote: In most cases what happens is the Public Folder gets created and then the owner revokes rights to the default user (DBAgent user falls into this category) and then ARCserve stops backing up the folder.

That's it. Default user's security rights were set to "None" Changed to "Reviewer" now all is well in Mudville.

CA Article refers to Arcserv 6.x & NT. Still valid.
