BrighStor and DLT VS1 Write Protection

Hi all-

I have some Sony DLT VS1 tapes that say they are write protected when I try to format them. I checked to make sure the "lock" is in the unlocked position, but I am still unable to format.

Any idea on how to "un-lock" these tapes? I was reading that there may be some file there that prevents accidental overwrite, but I really don't know if that's the case or not. Im using BrightStor 11.1 if that helps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps by mistake the tapes were used for a WORM backup.
