When searching make sure you are logged an as a Administrator and that the two options in Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View are set to show Hidden and System Files, and that the similar two options are set in the Search preferences to search both Hidden and System Files.
Look around these sort of locations -
C:\Documents and Settings\Username (username might be Administrator or any name you setup as a user, it might even have something quite strange that it inherited from Windows ME).
Thanks, but nothing here refers to the Briefcase. My Upgrade from Me to XP Home worked perfectly. I guess maybe the question is 'where is the briefcase normally located in WinME' ?
"let me clarify. i had WinME and was using the briefcase - which appeared on the desktop. I upgraded to WinXP Home and it disappeared."
I understand and was trying to show you where to look for it.
This is not a Windows ME forum, is it the same procedure in ME? This is what is says in the ME Help Program.
"To create a new Briefcase
On the desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Explore.
Click the folder in which you want to create the new Briefcase.
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Briefcase."
In an earlier post I suggested you look around C:\Documents and Settings\Username, each of the folders will have a folder called Desktop, see if your missing folder ended up in there.
Hi there. If you go to My Computer you can right click on your C: drive and select Search. This has the option to search for files of type 'Briefcase'.
In an earlier post I suggested you look around C:\Documents and Settings\Username, each of the folders will have a folder called Desktop, see if your missing folder ended up in there.
