I am trying to bridge a LinkSys BEFW11S4 and another wireless router (Dell Truemobile 2300) together to extend our network. I seem to be having great difficulty in achieving this. I gave both routers IP addresses on the same subnet (among other changes) and I still can't connect.

Can anyone explain how to make this happen?

Thanks,

The 802.11x standard does not define protocols for this, so each manufacturer has implemented what are essentially proprietary solutions for WDS, client mode and bridging.

I do not think a wireless bridge is possible unless the two units are identical.

In additional to what Bill have said,BEFW11S4 doesn't have the capability support Bridging. You may try to use those AP's of Linksys if you want to make this possible.

Thanks to everyone for their info. I will try another way to extend the network.

Thanks again
