Bridging firewall

I'm using freebsd to make a bridging(transparent) firewall , and I hope someone could point out the security risks using this method instead of a regular tcp/ip firewall.

The fw performs very good (as ipfw) on tcp/ip level.
Using bridging option in kernel, and ipfw.
