Hi
Windows Server 2003 SBS
Loaded exchange server 2003
when I try to run the internet mail wizard it tells me site is a bridehead server, how did this happen? I'm a single server with a single domain, I don't relay SMTP anywhere. So how can I stop this Bridgehead and get my e-mail working?
Cheers

I'm studying hard every day, so why is the learning curve appear to be heading downwards?

Did you install Exchange as part of the SBS 'deployment'? What happens when you run the "Internet Connection Wizard"?

Hi
I run the wizard, and if you ask it to set up SMTP you get an error message "cannot complete as you are a bridgehead server".
I came across some SBS deployment team advise that says you should use the Internet connection window in the server management screen to configure exchange server for you.
So i did, i put in my domain address for the exchange like and now when i type my web address into IE address bar outlook express web edition pops up instead of my web site. And when I write an email, it still dosen't get sent.
I also have Outlook on my laptop and it can't access my exchange server.
Cheers
Phil

How much time do you have invested in this server?

If you were to back up your files and email, format the system and then start over, what would that mean for you? 2 or 3 days?

If you decide to start over, follow the Microsoft directions to the letter. Don't browse the web or do ANYTHING to the system while it is installing. Follow all directions, finish all wizards and complete the TO DO list before doing ANYTHING else to the system. Use an INTERNAL DNS DOMAIN NAME (like mydomain.local) instead of a routeable one. Don't skip any steps. Don't try upgrades, don't try "fixing" any problems that come up. Make sure it all works perfectly. Then perform a full backup. Then start restoring the data files and email files from your backup.
