Hello, I've had some troubles configuring the exchange agent but I finally fixed it. But I can't still choose the brick level option in the backup job. Now I've read that the versions of the arcserve and the exchange agent (installed on a different server) need to be the same. But how can I see the version of the exchange agent ? Thank you in advance.

I just did the same, upgraded an Arcserve from 11.1 to 11.5. The documentation said that it is backward compatible with the 11.1 agent. But my exchange job failed and said could not connect to agent.

Support for this is not alot of help and give you the same wrong information.

hopefully, soon, we will move away from arcserve

If you are doing a full system backup - brick level is automatically excluded from the backup - this is how CA designed it to work.

Backward compatibility is only really intended as a stepping stone to help you upgrade, rather than a permanent solution. You should be able to see the version of the agent by opening up regedit on the machine you want to find information about and browsing to HKLM\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates and looking for the dbaexchg2 key somewhere underneath it, it should show a version and build number.

The versions of ARCserve and the exchange agent need to be the same on any pre v9 installations. Backward compatibility was only offered in v9 and above, and only for some previous versions (usually 7 or above - nothing older).
