Brick level backup stalls on one mailbox

Hi,
We have an Arcserv 2000 that does the backup for our server that has windows 4.0 sp6 and Exchange 5.5 sp3 installed. Everything goes fine with the file backups and so does the brick-level backup of all the mailboxes but one. We thought that it was too big ( it was 2.6 Go at the time) and proceeded to clean it up but the backup of that box still crashes at 14% (BTW we took out this mailbox out our regular backup job because it crashes it). Anybody has any idea what could be the problem? Doing a defrag of the database would help you think? Should I delete the mailbox and re-create it?

Go through the mailbox in question and delete any SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Undeliverable messages. The brick level backup doesn't like them.
