We are trying to get push forwarding to work and need an external IP for bria to to connect with our Internally hosted Mitel 3300. How can we set this up, do we really need a MiVoice Border Gateway?

Or can we specifically direct traffic from Bria's push servers to the correct phone, or server?
If so, would we want to direct those connections to our Bria SIP phone, or to our mitel controller internally, or to our external Mitel gateway?

Currently we are looking to setup 3-5 Bria SIP, mitel devices.

Without getting into it in length, yes I have been able to run a Bria client in the past.
When dealing with sip externally - especially opening up port 5060 I only ever recommend using an MBG now. MBG base license and 5 devices should not be very expensive at all, especially if you have a vm environment. The system requirements are very low.
