Customer has an ACS R4.0, 206E, 206, 400, and VS Mail. When answering an inbound call, often (but not always) when someone picks up the call, they hear a squeal right as they pick up the handset that sounds to me like modem tone. Once the tone stops, the caller is there and all is well. I was able to reproduce this while onsite, but cannot see why they are getting this tone. There is no modem attached to the ACS, and the fax is a dedicated # outside the system, so I doubt it's anything related to that. Is it possible that the CO is causing this? I need to go back out and plug a phone directly into the station port in the system, but I'd be willing to bet that it'll do it there too.
Is there anything else I should look for before heading to their provider about it? Of course they've already called SBC to check, and they point at the equipment as being the cause.
thanks
