Hi

I needs help to crack my password of win2k pro syatem in dell laptop inspiron 7000.
I lost my administrator passowrd.
I took help from Terry Waskowich , the way , we can change logon.scr to cmd.exe in winnt/system32.
Or can copy sam and security files in winnt/system32/config folder.

I failed to do so as in my case :

C:\..winnt0....winnt1......

Both folders are in same drive under fat32 file system.

It was created as I installed new installtion of os beside of existing winnt folder.
I'm getting dual booting instance at start of the syatem.
boot.ini file shows this setting.

Can somebody tell me how i execute cmd.exe file instead of ctrl+alt+del window?
Has registry any settings for this?

thanx in advance to join this discussion.

This is a general mistake by user to forget the password , in my case i lost due to run network identification wizard before setting any userid in the system, that domain was not exist.

Need more discussion , pls send me a mail

sorry for long explanation!

I too had the same problem when one of my colleagues changed the local admin password just before leaving the company.

Luckilly I didn't have to re-install, check out this url
The program listed there will create a bootable linux ram disk that you can use to 'hack' the password.

It is designed for NT4, but I got it to work on win2k pro.

***READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY, AND DO NOT USE THE LATEST VERSION (will kill 2k)***
