I am very new to MS Project but I think it extremely useful for my job. Here is what I am trying to do and can't quite get there...

I want to use project as a machine schedule in my plant. I would like to be able to say:

Press 1
Running
Mold Change

...but I would like to be able to go back into the running task after the mold change. Say the running task begins on Monday, then the Mold change task is scheduled for Wednesday for 6 hours, then the running task resumes. I have tried linking the tasks but it's not working. Is this even possible or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks for the help. I'm not sure if this is very clear so if not please let me know and I'll try to explain better.

What if the mold change takes 8 hours and not 6? The options are:
[ol 1]
[li]Break "running" into two tasks link Running Part 1 > Mold Change > Running Part 2[/li]
[li]Assign resources to both tasks and edit the work in the Task usage view to stop Running task and then add the work at the end.[/li]
[/ol]

I personally would use the first option.
