Hi All,

I am brand new to Cognos, in fact I haven't even taking my training yet. Anyways, I made a copy of a cube with some updated numbers in Transformer. A user is asking how to run an existing report off the new cube from within Powerplay. I don't know if this is possible...or if the user will have to create a brand new report from the new cube. The fields in the cube didn't change, just some of the values that calculations are based on.

Any help would be very appreciated. I hope that I am not too confusing.

Do you mean the cube file name is new ? If so and I'm guessing the user uses PowerPlay Windows Client and wants to open .ppr report with the new cube file. In that case, user must in PowerPlay select menu File Open (and NOT desktop shortcut to the report or recent file list) and when user has then report Open-dialog, user must check "Prompt for cube". After that the user is asked to locate the .mdc cube file. If user gets the report opened, it must be noticed that if the user saves the report(.ppr file) the report opens next time with the new cube. Meaning, if you(well, the user) need to have two cubes, you need two reports.

Don't know if this was your problem, but it has been to many people...

Cheers

Hi Yksvaan,

Thanks so much for your help! I looked into the book I was given but it didn't help me with this problem. Me and my users thank you!
