Hi,

We have a Dell PowerVault 100T backup tape machine, with W2kServer and Backup Exec v8.6 software.
We bought 10 Fuji LTO 100 GB tapes.
The first 3 or 4 tapes worked with no problem. But after that, each new tape that we put in would register a "Memory on board the LTO tape is broken. Do not use tape again" warning message after the nights`s backup with that tape.

The backup logs say the backup was a success. I can restore from the tapes with no problems......

Is this error message a quirk or setting in Backup Exec, or should I ask for a refund on the tapes I purchased??

Any info much appreciated,
Danny.

I have never seen that problem, but I have had problems with incompatible tapes. Even though you have a DELL library, the drives themselves aren't DELL products. I have a DELL 136T with HP drives. Some FUJIFilm LTO tapes wouldn't work and when I talked to DELL and the vendor I bought the tapes from, they both said that I need tapes designated for the HP drives. Exchanged my incorrect tapes and got ones for HP drives and don't have any more tape problems.
