Branch Distribution roles in SCCM 2007

my environment consist of parent domain and child domain with separated AD sites and services. i have deploy SCCM 2007 in the parent domain and would like to set my branch domain as branch distribution roles, however i was unable to set it as the option "branch distribution roles" is dimmed. Pls advise on how to set my child domain to set the branch distribution roles.
