It should autodetect if you did the following:
Power down IP 500
Connect the ATM 16 with the 0.5 m blue shielded CAT5 cable which comes with the ATM 16 module
Power up the ATM 16 module and wait for the system led to blink green
Power up the IP Office and wait at least 15 minutes to check if the ATM unit is operational
If the system led on the ATN 16 is solid green then the unit is operational
If the system led is blinking green or solid read then there is a problem with the unit - replace it
Power down IP 500
