Has anyone seen this error?

Media Manager error 8, invalid media ID
Media Manager could not deassign media id , retaining it in NetBackup database

Thanks!

Hmmm Error 8 is ...
unable to determine the status of rbak
On DomainOS clients, rbak is used to do restores. If rbak does not exit with a status message, NetBackup cannot determine whether the restore worked or not.
but, I do not think this is the case.

Not being able to deassign could be that the tape is frozen etc ... Check under the FAQ's for a FAQ that I wrote up to deassign/expire tapes - Let me know if that works.

Go to \VERITAS\NetBackup\db\media and make copy of mediaDB file. Then run (#bpmedia -movedb -m BF9884 -newserver <newserver> -oldserver <oldserver>) to move all media to new media server. Delete mediaDB file and run bpmedialist, NetBackup will create empty mediaDB file. After that run again bpmedia -movedb command to move media on server where it was originally located.
