The powers that be want a fiber module installed into two Business Policy Switch 2000s. The fellow sitting next to me does the cabling, and he needs to connect the following cable:
1M ST/PC-MTRJ/PC 50/125 Duplex Patchcord

I would like to clarify all related issues and would appreciate any confirmations/corrections:

1) All other BPS2000s in the network use the following MDA: BPS2000-2GE. Table 1 in NTP 302403h (Installing MDAs) gives the following interfaces for this MDA:
Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP)
GBIC
1000BASE-SX (LC Type)
1000BASE-SX (MT-RJ Type)
1000BASE-LX (LC type)

2) NTP 312865b (Installing GBICs and SFPs) gives the three SFP options, and it appears that I would need the MT-RJ type:
1000BASE-SX
(MT-RJ Type)
AA1419014 Small Form Factor
Pluggable, short
wavelength 550 m

3) Do we need to purchase BOTH the BPS2000-2GE and the SFP 1000BASE-SX (MT-RJ Type)? Is there any way to make this connection with another MDA that does not require an SFP? Any other considerations?

I am an extra resource for this project and don't have access to the BPS2000s (not yet anyway). So I can't check the part numbers. I would appreciate any help with this project. These are things I haven't done before, so I appreciate the extra help!

Cheers!

The BPS 2000-2GE supports either the SX or LX SFP Gbic. You would need to get both the MDA and the SFP.

There is also a 450-1SX MDA which has a single Gig port which takes a multimode SX connection.
