hi guys I have a number of defunct bps,s all with the same fault, at post test they fail with " NXS RAM ERROR " although all other post tests are ok.
I have tried to re blow the firmware to no avail ,any ideas ?
i had the same problem but what did is i took out the fiber module to see if it would resolve the problem and it did..
thus a defective fiber module.
you should take out the cascade next if it still fails with the Fiber module out.
Either way if its fairly new you can RMA the switch
I'm just coming across this problem also on about 6 BPS2000's that have been running for 6 months now. When powered on they report a "NSX XRAM" error and go to a diag screen. I have to select "a" to run agent code and then the switch will continue to fire up normally. They function normally except the management vlan doesn't respond at all (no pings in or out). This is what originally caused me to look into this.
Here's the point. Nortel has a CSB that lists a problem with defective SRAM (CSB-0112003). You can RMA the defective switches to Nortel for replacement.
