Hi
I've searched through the site before posting but I'm none the wiser, so here goes.
The short version of my story goes like this...
I've lost my 160gig drive which is basically full of work, mp3's (years of ripping to put on my ancient Rio Riot) and the first 3 years of my sons life in digital photos (lesson learned: back it up).
The long version is here... Basically, I've run various demo recovery progs on the drive and it looks like pretty much everything is still intact.
However when I have tried to recover it using Filescavenger, it has returned the files, but a lot of the pics won't open and the mp3's are garbled.
Am I doing something wrong? Using the wrong software?
I'm not entirely sure what is wrong with the disk, but any help would be appreciated.

I was pleased by the performance of Getdataback. It did recover a lot of unuseable files, but it also recovered a lot that were useable. In my case, it was running against hard drives which had been reformatted.
