Hello,
I'd like to pick up a copy or two of version 9 (full version). I imagine there are a lot of these around to be had but I've searched about everywhere else on the web including e-bay with no luck. Do any of the old salts in here know someone willing to part with theirs?
Thanks in advance

There probably aren't a lot of them around because IIRC there weren't any made. The *latest* version of VFP9 (SP2 with Sedna) was a download-only release, I think.

Even before that, going back to around VFP7 a lot of us got new releases from our MSDN subscriptions.

Somebody will have a link for you. Good luck! But you really are looking for a bit of a rare duck.

Hi,

You have to look for vresion VFP9 only, install it and you ar entitled to download and upgrade to SP2 with all the hotfixes.
Usualy VFP9 is available on EBay.

Dan there were retail boxed versions of VFP9 available. There may not have been much revenue by retail buyers, as most developers may have used the MSDN subscription to download it, but I had bought one from the MS employee shop on my MVP summit attendance in 2008 and I'm sure that box wasn't exclusively sold there.

Bye, Olaf.

What Pavel usually recommends on MSDN forums or expert exchange is to use the OPEN LICENSE or OPEN VALUE programs of MS to order products. You just have to buy 5 licenses, which could be 2 VFP licenses and 3 other software products, eg the cheapest you find.

I don't see it listed anymore, though.

Bye, Olaf.

Thanks for the responses so far. I had some of the brown VFP9 boxes back in the day, ideally that's what I'd like to find. I realize I can download SP2, etc.

I didn't think you were allowed to get VFP9 from MSDN and then use it for production; perhaps I'm confused on that point as it seems that's what everyone else was doing.

I'll look into the OLP route, but I prefer to have the box/key and just install/uninstall as I replace my computers over time. I don't like how MS tries to pull you into the new pricing model and I'm afraid that'll give them more hooks into me to do that; I prefer to "own" my software rather than "rent" it like I'm stuck doing with Office365...

If anyone has old friends with VFP9 that they're not using, I remain interested.
