How can I make a bounded text box, able to act as a searchable string. (e.g. I have a text box that displays a test name, I would like to be able to enter a new test name and <ENTER> to search for the next occurrence of matching characters, without adding a find button from the tool bar)

If your text box is bound to a field, I don't see how you would do it. (Of course, at 7:50 am there's a lot I don't see!)

If however, you create a text box that is unbound, you can write code, maybe in the AfterUpdate event, to do your searching for you.

Does that sound like what you want to do?

I gotta go with Kathryn on this one. If your text box is bound, all you will be doing by entering search criteria in the text box is changing the value of the field it is bound to in the table.

If you want to have a searchable form, have an UNBOUND text box for your criteria. Then after update of the field you can:

1) Create a dynamic SQL string based on your criteria,
2) Set your forms Record Source to that string, and
3) Refresh your form.

This is just one way that I like to use, I am sure others may have some methods they prefer. If you need help with the SQL statement, let us know.
