added the scsi harddrive which for some reason came in unplugged.. booted the machine with media in cdrom and gettin followin error in led 25C68008 P1-M1.. monitor display wont come up neither.. please help
Perhaps there's a SCSI address conflict between your CD/DVD and the disk you attached? Try booting without the disk, you should get to the install menus. Of course you won't be able to install AIX without disks in the server. But you might be able to isolate the problem.
i booted without the disk and i still get the same error code... unfortunately i dont have another disk but it is a barracuda seagate hd... also the memory sticks i see that theres 2 white ones stuck in there and 2 regular ones in between each other.. 1 reg, 1 white, 1 reg, 1 white.. any other ideas.. thanks a lot for the help.. greatly appreciate it..
remove the first stick of RAM and see if you can boot. you won't be able to do anything else until you can get the machine to boot cleanly first. i'd move the last stick of RAM up to the first slot. the first slot should be marked J10 on the board.
you can find the hardware manual online for this box for more details:
ok i removed the first stick which was a fake plastic ram looking thingie from j10.. moved up the real ram to j10 and now the error code is 25C68002 P1-M2
ok. i misread your earlier post. remove the stick in j10 now. the white plastic sticks have no bearing here. the machine was most likely shipped with these, to keep dust out of the slot.
ok guys i did the following.. put the ram and white sticks back where they belonged but this time i put them upside down instead of the way they came.. now the problem went away woohoo... i can finally hear the chirp and the supposedly welcome screen tone?? anyways looks like now i gotta get the display to work.. not working on my samsung lcd.. anyway i can troubleshooot this?? thanks
