In Illustrator 9, I wanted to save a textured color swatch to use as a background for a web site. I've tried saving the square swatch both by exporting it as a .jpg file and "saving to the web" as a .gif file. In both cases, however, the file is saved with a white area around it, which makes it unusable as a background swatch.

I've tried everything I can think of. Can I save a square swatch without the area around it being included?

Thanks!

Bill B.

If the swatch is square and in .jpg or .gif format: why don't you just open it in Photoshop or a similar program and crop off the white border.

Mike,

What a great idea! That's what I call thinking outside of the box (or in this case, swatch). Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most difficult to see.

Thanks!
