Hi. After coming into the office this morning with a chorus of, "I can't access the Internet" from the majority of our staff, I noticed our BorderManager server had to go on UPS due to a small voltage spike. This is the only thing I could see until I restarted the server and got an error message stating that the "BorderManager proxy initialization failed and would be unloaded". Then right after, the messages came up as follows:

NBMLICENSE MANAGER: Unable to obtain a valid license code=8000100C
NBMLICENSE MANAGER: Error releasing the license code=C0001001

The only info I could find was that the BM licenses were expired, but that's impossible since we have unlimited licenses and are still showing in NDS tree.

BTW, we are running NW5.0 SP6.0a and BM 3.6 Enterprise Edition in a multi-server environment.

Any help or suggestions would be (and is) greatly appreciated

I have spent soooooo much time fixing license probs with bordermangler for our customers. There are loads of TID's to look at. I would suggest going to support.novell.com goto the knowledge base and query your errors.

If you haven't already apply all patches for your server and bmanager etc etc. Lee Smith

Thanks for your reply TBSmith. After doing some detective work, I found that the technician who initially installed BM for us installed 60 day eval licenses which expired. I'm now in the process of finding out why this was done since we purchased 100 single user licenses along with the product. Just wanted to mention this to give others who have a problem all of a sudden to make sure that they do have valid licenses installed first then go through the other steps outlined by Novell and you fine folks.

Thanks again!

FYI - The technician could have made a very simple mistake. Some license disks have both 60 day eval and full licenses on them. One set is in the root of the diskette and the other is in the \license directory of the diskette. Joshua Rothschild
