Hello,

We need to upgrade hardware and software from an old 3.5 BorderManager (firewall services) to Border Manager 3.7 Enterprise Edition. Nowhere we look can we find an exact reference that this is possible. We do have 3.6 (firewall services) but have not installed it over 3.5. We would like to keep all our filters but if we have to do a fresh install of 3.7 then we will. Should we upgrade the hardware first using migration wizard 6 or Border Manager 3.5 to 3.7?

If the 2 NIC's are different names than the old server will they need to be renamed for the old filters to work?

Info on our setup

Netware 5.1 w/ latest sp

The upgrade will work. You will also have problems with the filters, so back them up (they are stored in the file SYS:ETC\FITERS.CFG).

After you finnish the upgrade you will need to import the filters. In 3.7 the filters work a bit different, and 3.7 was intended to be managed by iManager. The problem is, iManager does not come with 5.1 You can still admin the server the way you do for 3.5, but you have to take extra considerations for the filters.
