Hello,

I've got a Chyang gBOX running XP Pro.

Problem:
On boot up, I get BIOS, the XP Logo screen, then the monitor goes black. I know XP is running fine underneath it, because I can type my password, and I can hear the XP Chime. Something is messed up with the video.

Related:
I used the S-Video out to a normal TV (using the RCA connection) to test it. I didn't change any drivers, display, resolution, anything. When I went back to a normal monitor, this problem started occuring.

Advice, please?

Thanks.
Jason D

Hi Jason;

You might have swapped you displays and the software might be thinking that the TV is the primary display. The other possibility is that the display settings is set to high. Go into the samve mode by pressing the "F8" key a few times just before the Windows logo screen comes up with the loading bar going across the screen. this will give you a boot menu that will give you a few options. The one option you can try is the "Last known good configuration" option, this should use a good seetings backup. If this does not work reboot press the "F8" key a few times before the WIndows logo screen choose the "Safe mode" option. When you get into the safe mode, uninstall you screen driver using the device manager.( Start> rightclick with your mouse on "my computer" and select the "properties" option on the dropdown menu, select the "Hardware" tab and clcik on the "device manager" button.

Under "device manager" click on the plus "+" next to the Display Adapters, this will give you an new Item under Display Adapters right click on it and uninstall it. Restart your system by going start > shutown > restart.

Then boot into normally, this I hope should fix your problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I used f8 before the windows startup logo to get back into Last Good Configuration.

I tried to reset it using a TV monitor, in Display, Settings, Advanced, but for some reason it wouln't accept the change there.

So, if this happens to you,,, F8.

THX,
Jason D.
