We are trying to setup bootp to grab our config fiels from a ARN, across a PtP circuit, to a BCN, finally to a Solaris server.

The ARN and BCN are running BayRS v13.20. All routers are using TCP/IP and OSPF as routing protocols.

Using "bconfig config network" on the ARN, we have TCP, bootp is installed on the BCN and when we actually reboot the ARN, we have used a sniffer at the connection between the ARN/BCN and the BCN/Bootp server and we never see any bootp communication. It's as if bootp never makes a call from the ARN.

Thoughts?

In site Manager Under IP>BootP>Relay Agent Interface Table, did you add where to send the BootP request?

My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my knowledge.

On the edge router (ARN) or the backbone router (BCN)? Once in "Relay Agent Interface Table", do I select :Forward I/F" or "Client I/F"?

I'm a little confused by the problem description. If you are trying to bring in a config to the ARN after a cold boot then I believe it uses TFTP to do it. The BCONFIG is correct. Set up a console connection and see what the ARN is doing at boot time and troubleshoot from there. You also will need a TFTP server set up to service the request.
